ABOUT US
A Place Where Yoga enables body, mind and soul to be united
At Meraki Yoga Studio, we are more than just a wellness space—we are a community of seekers committed to healing, self-awareness, and personal growth. Located in the culturally rich neighbourhood of Purasaiwalkam, Chennai, Meraki is a sanctuary for anyone looking to align their body, mind, and spirit through the ancient science of yoga.
Our name, ‘Meraki’, comes from a Greek word that means “to do something with soul, creativity, or love”—and this reflects our deepest intention behind every class, session, and interaction.
Our Journey & Philosophy
Yoga, for us, is not just a form of fitness or a trend. It is a way of life—a continuous unfolding of human consciousness. While modern yoga often emphasizes physical flexibility and performance, at Meraki, we aim to preserve the original essence of yoga as a spiritual and introspective discipline.
We offer traditional styles like Hatha, Ashtanga, and Kundalini Yoga—but our deepest foundation lies in our integration of SKY Yoga (Simplified Kundalini Yoga), realised and systemised by Thathuva Gnani Vethathiri Maharishi. This system beautifully aligns the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being.
We help you connect your body, mind, and soul by slowing down your breath and movement (awareness), listening to your inner voice (mind), and realising who you are—to transform and dissolve into a blissful and joyful state of human consciousness and its values.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create a compassionate, accessible, and inclusive space where people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities can experience the profound benefits of human excellence and joy of life through meditation.
We serve everyone—from teenagers exploring mindfulness to seniors seeking healthy aging; from working professionals managing stress to women on their motherhood journey; from spiritual seekers to complete beginners.
We provide subsidized class options for students, homemakers, and retirees, because we firmly believe that wellness should be a right, not a privilege.

Our Values
At the core of Meraki lies our commitment to the true spirit of yoga:
- Ahimsa (Non-violence): Practicing compassion toward self and others
- Satya (Truthfulness): Cultivating self-honesty and awareness
- Inclusivity: We welcome everyone here—regardless of gender, age, physic and background
- Humility: Our teachers will make you feel more like a companion and a friend than a guru
- Sustainability: We care for our community and the environment where and we are a part of it.
We teach in a way that encourages students to listen to their inner energies, honor their limits, and practice with conscious presence rather than performance. We emphasize self-nourishment, so that one does not suffer from their physical and mental existence or the material pleasures around them.
Our Community & Culture
Our studio is home to a diverse and growing community of yoga practitioners—from schoolchildren to grandparents, from tech professionals to full-time caregivers. Everyone finds a safe space here to simply be, to heal, and to grow.
We are constantly hosting workshops, community events, and wellness retreats that bring people together. Our goal is to make Meraki a hub of positivity, peace, and purposeful living.
We also engage in social outreach, offering low-cost yoga access to underserved communities, and promoting life wellness and spiritual awareness.
